Campbell University Library has a diverse collection of biblical commentaries that may be useful for divinity school assignments. These commentaries can be found in the reference room, and in the circulating collection.
The commentaries in the reference room are located near the reference desk. The series that we have in reference are: The Anchor Bible (both old and new testament), Interpretation series, Old Testament Library, New Testament Library, New Intrepreter's Bible, and Word Biblical Commentary.
These commentaries may be used anywhere in the library. You may make photocopies from them. They cannot be checked out.
There are commentaries that may be checked out. These commentaries are located in the circulating collection. These commentaries may be in one of two places.
Some of the commentaries are shelved as series. The Exposition of the Old and New Testaments, The International Critical Commentary, Calvin's Commentaries, and Word Biblical Commentary are among the commentaries shelved this way. They can be found in the call number range BS 491 - BS 495.
Other commentaries are shelved in the sections dealing with the specific book of the Bible. For example, a commentary on the Gospel of Luke would be found with the other books about the Gospel of Luke. To find these commentaries go to the Online Catalog (CamelCat) and do a keyword search on the book and the word commentary. For example: Luke AND commentary.
